Nepal Polls to be held in two phases

After a prolonged meeting at the official residence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the ruling alliance and the United Democratic Madhesi Front reached a consensus to go for peaceful local body polls in two phases, provided the government passes the constitution amendment bill through fast track.After hour-long negotiations, it was decided that the number of constituencies in Tarai-Madhes region shall be increased, considering population density.Language Commission's recommendation on official languages in the constitution's schedule will be included.They also agreed upon to resolve the issues of provincial boundaries through a powerful federal commission.The second date for the polls would be finalised in consultation with the Election Commission.
