Neighbours star Stefan Dennis has denied that his son Declan landed a guest role on the soap because of him.
Speaking on Lorraine today (August 13), Stefan said that all he did was take Declan to the audition. Declan, who played Louis Curtain in a few episodes earlier this year, did the rest on his own.
"People, of course, immediately think that I got him the job, and I didn't," he explained. "He did it on his own back. I was merely the chauffeur that took him to and from the audition and then to and from work."
Stefan continued by saying that although he and his son were on the same show, they barely saw each other on set due to the current restrictions amid the pandemic.
"It was really weird because of the COVID lockdown," he said. "Even though we were going to work together, we were working on opposite ends of the building... We wouldn't see each other all day, and then [I'd] pick him up at the end of the day."
Speaking about Declan's performance on the show, Stefan said that he was extremely impressed and called his son a "natural".
"He surprised the hell out of me. He was so natural," he shared.
"I gave him a little bit of coaching, which he asked for when we were doing lines together, but I actually didn't get to see him until he went on air, and I was very surprised. Good on him."
Declan's appearances as Louis centred on Emmett Donaldson's attempts to befriend him. However, Emmett's plans to impress Louis backfires when Louis takes over control of Hendrix Greyson's drone, which eventually hits Sheila Canning.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
