‘Kapoor Khandaan Ki Shaan’ and the heart-throb of the nation, Rishi Kapoor broke the hearts of millions of girls when he did Khullam Khulla Pyaar Ka Izhaar with Neetu Singh and they together embarked the journey of love Jab Tak Hai Jaan. And after dating for over 5 years, Neetu ji and Rishi ji got married in 1980 and are blessed with two children, Riddhima Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. While every fairy tale ends on a ‘happily ever after’ note, nobody tells what happens thereafter. On January 17, 2019, Neetu Kapoor posted a selfie on her Instagram handle with her beloved husband, Rishi Kapoor and she gives us a glimpse of what happens on a lunch date after 38 years of marriage. Sharing the selfie wherein Rishi ji is busy looking at his phone as his wife clicks a picture, Neetu ji captioned it, “Lunch date. This is what happens after 38 years of marriage husband on the phone and I’m clicking selfies”.
Rishi Kapoor is recently undergoing medical treatment in New York and Neetu Kapoor is accompanying her husband there, while their children Riddhima and Ranbir make frequent visits to the US. Giving a hint about Rishi ji’s illness, Neetu ji, in a cryptic New Year post said, “Happy 2019. No resolutions only wishes this year!!! Less pollution traffic!! Hope in future cancer is only a zodiac sign!!! No hatred less poverty loads of love togetherness happiness n most imp. Good health.”
While it left everyone wondering if Rishi Kapoor is suffering from cancer, his brother Randhir Kapoor spoke in length about the speculation that have again started doing the rounds and stated, “I don’t know much about it but this much I can tell you that [Rishi] is doing well, that’s all.” He further added, “Let people say whatever they want to. That he is doing is well is evident from the photo that I, too, have seen. He is having a good time with everyone and has stepped out to enjoy a good meal. He will soon be coming back to India. We are looking forward to that right now.”
In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Rishi Kapoor’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor gave an update on her father’s illness. She said, “He’s fine, nothing to worry about. I was never worried anyway. He’s just getting his routine tests done, as he said on Twitter, after so many years of wear and tear. He’s getting everything done, so hoping for the best.” (Also Read: Neetu Singh Shared How Rishi Kapoor Coped Up After Riddhima Kapoor Got Married And Went To Delhi)
Coming back to Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor's journey, even after they started dating, he was said to have had affairs with a few of his co-stars, but his wife never acted upon them. In an interview, Neetu ji had said, “Even when we were dating, he remained a total flirt and would pretend he did not have other affairs when he was caught and always denied it. I knew that. But I was too innocent and if he said ‘nahi hai’ I would believe him. He knew in his mind that I was a simple person and felt ‘yeh mujhe sambhal legi’ and that he could mould and dominate over me.”
Like any other husband and wife, the couple had their own share of ups and downs in their marriage but all of that is past now. Neetu Kapoor said in another interview, “There always comes a phase in a couple’s life when there would be friction, disagreements. Rishi and I also went through that stage. It was just one of those problems, which only the husband and wife would understand. Fortunately, we were able to sort out our differences. Today, everything is forgotten.” (Also Read: Did Ranbir Kapoor's Sis, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Gift Unique Gold-Plated Love Bands To Alia And Him?)
