In a very strongly written notice, the government of India has sent an Ultimatum to Twitter seeking their compliance with IT rules. After the Centre was dismayed by Twitter, a serious warning has been issued where the government has told twitter to either comply or face unintended consequences as per Indian penal law. As Twitter refused to resolve the issue on time, the government had issued the last letter. It has been told that Twitter stands to lose its intermediary status if it continues to snub Indian rules as per the new It laws, which were put in place in February 2021. Exemption under section 79 is on the line. The biggest question is how long Twitter can continue to make profits from the massive user base of this country while refusing to abide by its laws and regulation. Watch the discussion!
