Punjab's new cabinet minister and TV personality Navjot Singh Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu is likely to work as his personal assistant soon.
Having failed to get a Congress ticket, following the party principle of one family one ticket norm, her urge to champion the cause of common people has not stopped.
Having expressed her desire to work voluntarily, Mrs Sidhu says she wants to shoulder the responsibility of her husband who has been given a bigger responsibility by the government.
"My role will be to understand his department and to help him, as the ministers usually ignore their own constituencies which eventually lead to anti-incumbency. You give it any name but I want to establish a regular contact with the people of the constituency," she said.
While Mrs Sidhu is already on the job and listening to the grievances at home in Amritsar, Sidhu is busy thanking people and paying obeisance at temples and Gurudwaras. When questioned about his wife's wish, he said she is his better half and more experienced than him.
"Don't put words in my mouth. I have been the principal of the school where you learned this. She is my life partner and experienced than me. I always require her help," Navjot Singh Sidhu said.
It is worth mentioning here that Navjot Kaur Sidhu had to sacrifice her Amritsar East Assembly constituency seat for husband as the party had allowed one ticket to the couple.
Besides the service, it is the fear of anti-incumbency which the Sidhus want to tackle in future. Sidhu himself has said that he wants to meet the aspirations of the people and will leave no stone unturned to achieve it.
