Handloom and handicrafts form an integral part of Indian culture and tradition. Its rich colorful arts and crafts make it stand out from the rest of the world.The Indian hand-woven fabrics have been known since time immemorial. The handicraft sector plays a pivotal role in the country's economy. It provides employment to a vast segment of craft persons in rural and semi-urban areas and generates substantial foreign exchange for the country, while preserving its cultural heritage.However, in yet another move to showcase and bring forth the rich handloom and handicrafts of India especially the Northeast whose true ethnicity is revealed by its rich handicraft and handloom items, a 15-day long national handicraft fair was organized in Janakpuri in the national capital under the initiative of Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation and sponsored by National Textile Corporation Ltd and Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India.
