Nagaland reports more COVID-19 recoveries than fresh cases

Kohima, May 31 (PTI) Nagaland on Monday reported more recoveries than fresh COVID-19 cases as 215 people were cured of the disease while 117 new infections pushed the tally to 21,680, a health department official said.

This is for the first time since April 14 that the State has more patients recovering than fresh infections in a day.

'117 +ve cases of COVID-19 reported today. Kohima-47, Dimapur-33, Mokokchung-9, Wokha-Zunheboto-7 each, Mon-6, Kiphire-5, Longleng-Phek-Tuensang-1 each. 215 +ve patients have recovered. Dimapur- 128, Kohima- 36, Zunheboto- 12, Longleng-Phek- 11 each, Mon- 9, Kiphire-Mokokchung- 3 each, Peren- 2,' said Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom in a tweet.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state rose to 376 as 13 more persons succumbed to the disease, the official said.

The state now has 4,934 active COVID-19 cases, the official said.

With the recovery of 215 people on Monday, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries rose to 15,738, he said.

Altogether 632 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states, state nodal officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Project Dr Nyanthung Kikon said.

A total of 1,92,253 samples have been tested COVID-19 samples so far in Nagaland. It includes 89,481 on RT-PCR, 55,541 on TrueNat and 47,231 on Rapid Antigen Test, a health official said.

Meanwhile, state immunisation officer Dr Ritu Thurr said a total of 2,14,501 people have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine of which 54,127 beneficiaries have received both doses of the vaccine. PTI NBS RG RG
