The film might make Rs 30 crore by the end of its second week

Taapsee Pannu starrer Naam Shabana has remained steady on the weekdays at the box office. The film collected Rs 1.80 crore on its first Wednesday (day 6) and now it stands with a grand total of Rs 25.60 crore. With this, the movie has surpassed the lifetime collections of Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut starrer Rangoon and Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor starrer OK Jaanu. Naam Shabana now stands at the seventh position in the list of top 10 highest grossing movies of 2017. With no big release this week the film might easily make Rs 30 crore by the end of its second week.

A prequel/spinoff to the 2015 hit Baby, Naam Shabana sets out to tell the backstory of how Shabana Khan (played by Taapsee), a middle-class college-going girl and a Kudo practitioner (with a terrible secret and a tragic present) is inducted into a top-secret intelligence agency. Akshay Kumar has an extended cameo in the film. ALSO READ: Naam Shabana movie review: Watch it for Taapsee Pannu’s brilliance and a bit of good ‘ol Baby nostalgia

India.com film critic Ankita Chaurasia in her 3 star review wrote, “Watch it for Taapsee’s brilliance as Shabana and a bit of good ‘ol Baby nostalgia. The film has a lot of both and you won’t be disappointed at all.”

Post Naam Shabana, Taapsee will be seen in the sequel of Salman Khan’s 1997 hit Judwaa. Judwaa 2 also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Dhawan in a double role. The film is directed by Varun’s father David Dhawan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson. It will hit the theatres on September 29, 2017.
