Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that his nearly one-year-old government has managed to bring down corruption in government offices, and pushed revenue growth in the state.
Sarbananda Sonowal, while speaking at the India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit 2017 in Guwahati, said checking corruption is one of the primary objectives of his government.
Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan "na khaaunga, na khaane dunga", the Assam chief minister said his government believes in "na lunga, na dunga" policy. He said the level of corruption has come down significantly in the state administration and action has been taken against corrupt officials.
This, Sarbanada Sonowal, said has helped in pushing the revenue growth in the state to a record 21 per cent.
Besides checking corruption, the Assam chief minister listed illegal migrants, pollution and terrorism as his government's biggest priorities.
YOUTH MUST TAKE THE LEAD
Sarbananda Sonowal lauded the Narendra Modi government for focusing on North-east, and said the Prime Minister has directed his ministers to visit the region every fortnight.
The Assam chief minister shared his vision for the state with the youth as a land of potential, possibility and prosperity. Sarbananda Sonowal urged the youth of Assam to channelise their energy in the right direction and make Assam the best state in the country.
Sonowal said that to bring about "parivartan", the youth has to work hard.
Sarbananda Sonowal, who was the Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in the Narendra Modi government before becoming the chief minister of Assam, asked youngsters to take up sports and stay physically fit.
