Mutated COVID in UK sounds alarm; India's Health Ministry calls meet

The Union Health Ministry has called for an urgent meeting of its joint moderating group today to discuss the emergence of a mutated variant of the COVID-19 pandemic. This has led to a surge in the cases in the United Kingdom.

Many countries have banned flights from the UK as the British government warned that the potent new strain of the virus was out of control and even imposed a stringent new stay at home lockdown from Sunday. The Joint Monitoring group chaired by Director General of Health Services will hold a meeting to discuss the issue of the muted coronavirus being reported in the UK. WHO representative to India, Dr Roderico H. Ofrin likely to join the meeting as he is also a part of the JMG.
