Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol emerges Mohanlal's fourth film in a row to complete 100 theatrical days
Malayalam actor Mohanlal's first 2017 release, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has successfully completed 100 theatrical days at the Kerala Box Office. The film, directed by Jibu Jacob and produced by Sophial Paul under her home banner Weekend Blockbusters was released on 20 January 2017.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol starred Lalettan in the titular role of a panchayat secretary, Ulahannan while Meena portrays the female lead as his wife Annyamma. The film also marks the return of Mohanlal-Meena duo after the 2013 blockbuster Drishyam.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol had stiff competition from three major films upon its release including Dulquer Salmaan starrer Jomonte Suviseshangal, and Bollywood films Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees and Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil. However, the Lalettan starrer, which opened to positive reviews managed to overpower all the films at the Kerala Box Office. The film is also the second fastest film to complete 10,000 shows in Kerala after Mohanlal's Pulimurugan and also emerged as the first blockbuster of 2017.
Interestingly, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is Mohanlal's fourth film in a row to complete 100 days at the Box Office. The actor's previous three releases, Telugu film Janatha Garage and Malayalam films Oppam and Pulimurugan too enjoyed 100 theatrical days at the Box Office.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol also starred Kasaba fame Neha Saxena, Amy Rosmy Sebastian, Anoop Menon Asha Sharath, Srindaa and Master Sanoop Santhosh.
