Mumbai: Portion of Ceiling at Andheri Railway Station Collapses, 2 Injured

A portion of the ceiling of the Andheri Railway station collapsed on Sunday. Two people were reportedly injured in the incident at the railway station in Mumbai.

Mumbai, Nov 13: A portion of the ceiling of the Andheri Railway station collapsed on Sunday. Two people were reportedly injured in the incident at the railway station in Mumbai.

The incident comes days after a woman was injured at suburban Elphinstone Road railway station in Mumbai after a part of a tile of the foot-over bridge fell on her head. A senior official had informed that all the tiles on the ceiling and side walls that were found loose were removed.

It also comes at a time when the government has announced building three railway bridges in Mumbai in the next three months. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had visited Elphinstone Road railway station, along with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis last month, a month after a stampede killed 23 people there. The three announced that the Army has been called in to build 3 bridges on the site and that the task will be completed by January 31, 2018.
