New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday referred to the violence in Mumbai during a rally on Assam clashes as the "most perverted form of pseudo-secular politics".
Talking to reporters after the BJP forced the Lok Sabha to be adjourned for the day on the issue, party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "This is the most perverted form of pseudo-secular politics and is also tragic for the national and security interest."
"The self-appointed guardians of minority rights are trying to raise the rights of infiltrators," he said.
"It is the conspiracy of certain groups with vested interest who want to play up the issue of Kokrajhar nationally," he said.
Violence during a protest left two people dead and 100 injured in Mumbai Saturday. Muslim groups called the gathering to protest killing of Muslims in Myanmar and Assam.
Police Sunday booked 23 people for murder, attempt to murder, molestation and damage to public property.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned twice on the issue amidst protests by the BJP and the Shiv Sena, first around 12.45 p.m. till 2 p.m., and later for the day.
