Mucormycosis cases witness a rise in Telangana; 60 cases reported in a day

The black fungus or Mucormycosis is a side-effect of the Covid virus, being reported in a number of patients. Two hospitals in the state of Telangana reported around 60 cases in a single day. Doctors are raising alarms to maintain proper hygiene in hospitals, as the fungus arises on wet surfaces. Patients with comorbidities like diabetes are at a high risk of fungal infection. Doctors have also suggested a controlled usage of steroids in Covid-19 positive patients, as this may be another trigger for the infection. Following the second wave of Covid-19 in India, the number of daily cases has seen a dip, but newer side effects of the treatment and medications continue to surprise the nation.
