Indore, Jul 19 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta police on Monday caught two officials, including in-charge Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of Bhikangaon, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a scrap dealer in Khargone district, an official said.

CMO Manoj Gangrade and in-charge of Municipal Council's Revenue Department Neeraj Rawat were caught accepting the bribe money in their office at Bhikangaon town, said Praveen Singh Baghel, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Lokayukta's Special Police Establishment (SPE).

The complainant had secured the highest bid for purchase of scrap material from the Bhikangaon Municipal Council during a tender process, he said.

However, these officials were asking for a 'commission' of Rs 12,000 from the complainant to complete the tender process, he said.

Baghel said after receiving a complaint, the Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught the two officials while accepting the bribe.

A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against them, he said. PTI HWP ADU RSY RSY
