Gwalior/Morena, Jul 21 (PTI) The Lokayukta police on Wednesday raided the residences of a civic official in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior and Morena districts and seized Rs 8 lakh in cash besides jewellery and documents related to properties, an official said.
The action was taken following a complaint that Santosh Sharma, an account officer of the Morena Municipal Corporation, had amassed disproportionate assets, Lokayukta police inspector Kavindra Singh Chouhan said.
Following the complaint and its verification, a team of the Lokayukta police simultaneously raided Sharma's houses in Morena and Gwalior on Wednesday morning, he said.
Cash worth Rs 8 lakh, jewellery, three cars and documents related to properties, among other items, were recovered from Sharma's residences, he said, adding the civic official also holds several bank accounts.
Chouhan said it has also come to light that Sharma's son owns a tractor agency.
The raids are still underway and it will take some time to estimate the total value of the civic official's assets, he said. PTI COR ADU RSY RSY
