The price of the Toyota Innova Crysta tops out at Rs 24 lakh and if you think that is premium, you ain't seen nothing yet! Meet the Toyota Vellfire, albeit for a princely sum of Rs 80 lakh. This is proof that that Toyota, apart from the Innova, makes a lot of other premium MPVs for markets like Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. These are proper ‘mobile luxury offices on wheels’ with travel akin to a business class airline seat.
Seeing the launch of the V-Class by Mercedes in India and how some are gravitating towards it — it was natural that the MPV specialist that Toyota is, would launch something in this segment. The Vellfire is simply massive and looks unlike any other van with a huge grille plus LED headlamps and DRLS. The headlamps and DRLs along with the chrome are spilt to create an even more polarizing stance. The side and rear are proper van like though but the floating roof plus huge size gives it presence.
Of course, the exterior is of little significance as the interior is the real reason you would buy this van. There is leather and wood, and chrome too, while a lot of the attention is lavished on the rear seat. India will most likely have the top-end executive seater option with two massive ‘thrones’ in the second row. These two seats are fully-reclinable Ottoman style seats which can be heated/cooled and have a lot of controls. It also has power slide doors plus two sunroofs, seat tables, ambient lighting, three zone climate control and more.
The engine, unlike the V-Class, would be a petrol hybrid motor with a CVT automatic. Being an import, the pricing could be more than the V-Class but expect it to be around Rs 80 lakh. For your money you are getting more space and luxury that no other sedan or SUV at this price can give. Interested? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
