Mother caught selling 13-year-old girl's virginity

The mother's plan came to the fore when an auto driver tried to sell the girl to a social worker.

MUMBAI: In a horrific incident in Mumbai, a woman tried to sell her daughter's virginity for Rs 1 lakh, Mumbai Mirror reports.

The woman's sinister plan did not succeed as a few social workers with the help of Thane crime branch officials trapped her in Mumbra.

One of the social workers came to know about the 'sale' when he was informed about the girl by an auto rickshaw driver involved in the plan, who intended to introduce her as a virgin 'for sale'.

It was then the social worker developed a plan to catch the culprits along with the girl's mother. Later, to trap the auto driver, the social worker called him seeking details about the girl.

Later on Sunday, the social worker in company of a colleague met the auto driver in the Kausa area of Mumbra. After paying a token amount of Rs 10,000 for the girl, the two met Farida Shaikh, who claimed to be the girl's mother.

When Shaikh demanded the pending amount, the social worker immediately alerted the crime branch officers, hiding a short distance away which led to the arrest.
