Monsoon 2019 Arrives in Mumbai, Will Cover Entire Maharashtra by Tuesday

Mumbai, June 25:  Monsoon has finally arrived in Mumbai today. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), entire Maharashtra will also be covered by the monsoon by Tuesday. Till now, the south-west monsoon arrived in 90 percent of the state.  The IMD told Reuters that till now, the monsoon rains have covered nearly half of the country. The weather forecasting agency further added that central and western parts of the country can witness rains this week.

Meanwhile, the monsoon has already arrived in the eastern and southern parts of Madhya Pradesh. IMD official Gurudutt Mishra told PTI that Ratlam, Dhar, Barwani, Ujjain, and Indore districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours. Monsoon 2019 Forecast in India: Know Date & Progress of Rainfall This Season Across The Country.

Meanwhile, light rainfall was recorded in some parts of Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, 17 deaths were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday in rain-related incidents. IMD said, “Seventeen persons lost their lives, while 19 persons sustained injuries across the state.” Pre-Monsoon Rainfall From March to May Deficit Drops to 22%: IMD.

Though pre-monsoon showers had brought down the temperature in Delhi, but the monsoon will arrive in the national capital on June 29. Meanwhile, the temperature also dipped in Himachal Pradesh due to pre-monsoon showers. The IMD has already issued a fresh yellow weather warning for a thunderstorm in the state till Tuesday.

Earlier reports surfaced that the monsoon this year, has made the slowest progress in at least 12 years.  As per the IMD, in 2019, rains came late with 84 percent of subdivisions of IMD recording low rainfall.
