Monsoon 2017: Delhi-NCR wakes up to a rainy Monday, downpour expected throughout week
New Delhi, June 19: With temperature soaring in the weekend and Sunday registering an average temperature of maximum 37 degree Celsius and minimum 29 degree Celsius, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to a rainy Monday. The rains consequently brought the temperature down, with the temperature remianing around 29 degree Celsius throughout the morning and expected to drop to 27 degree Celsius at night. As per weather forecasting agencies, the rain is here to stay for the week, as spatial rain is expected in several parts of the capital and the neigbouring areas.
While it came as a respite for most people because of the prevailing heatwave in the past week, certain parts of Delhi like Malviya Nagar, Chirag Delhi, among others reported incidents of water-logging, which caused inconvenience to most people in the areas.
Rains in Delhi and NCR began from early morning and with the Sun being invisible and the sky clouded mostly throughout the day, humidity in this zone raised to 75 percent as of at 10 am. Thunderstorms have been reported in several parts of the city and wind speed remained mostly between 15 to 25 km/h.
There were similar reports of rain throughout the country which also witnessed similar weather conditions on Sunday in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
