The victim has been identified as Ekam Dhillon, who had rented house number 116 in Phase III fifteen days ago and had moved in with his wife Seerat Kaur and two children.

In a shocking incident reported from Mohali city of Punjab near Chandigarh, a woman, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, shot dead her husband, stashed his body in a suitcase, placed it in a car and then vanished.

The incident took place under the Mataur Police station in Mohali. The victim has been identified as Ekam Dhillon, who had rented house number 116 in Phase III fifteen days ago and had moved in with his wife Seerat Kaur and two children, son aged 11 and daughter aged 5.

The police was informed about the incident by an auto-rickshaw driver whose help was sought by the accused Seerat Kaur to put the suitcase in the dicky of the car.

The auto-rickshaw driver told the police that he was stopped by the woman and asked to help place the heavy suitcase in the car, and while placing the suitcase, his hands were stained with blood. Sensing that something was not right, he informed the police.

In between, the accused Seerat Kaur, her mother Jaswinder Kaur and brother Vinay Pratap Brar made an excuse and vanished. The police team recovered the dead body from the suitcase which was placed in the dicky of the BMW car along with the revolver which was used to kill the victim.

"We have registered a case against Seerat Kaur, her mother and brother. Though the motive of the murder is not clear, but primarily it appears to be a case of strained relations between a husband and wife. We have sent police teams to nab the accused who will be arrested soon. The investigation is on," SHO Mataur Police Station, Bajjinder Singh Pannu, told India Today.

The police is also investigating this case from the angle of illicit relations as both the victim and the accused were financially well off.
