Varanasi Live: Clean India Means Healthier India, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is travelling to his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi, on a two-day-visit will address farmers in Varanasi’s Shahanshahpur on 23 September.

On 22 September, he inaugurated several development projects covering areas like infrastructure, railways, financial inclusion, and sanitation. Modi also launched India’s third ‘Mahamana Express’, a direct train service, which will connect Varanasi to Surat and Vadodara.

Addressing the farmers at Shahanshahpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that governance is not about politics or winning elections. but was about the wellbeing of the nation.

He said that a clean India was a healthier India. The prime minister added that Swachhata' has to become 'Swabhav' and “it is our collective responsibility to keep our nation clean”. He said that Swachhata was a Puja for him and that cleanliness was a way to serve the poor in India.

Speaking at Shahanshahpur event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “was our inspiration”. He said that he was inspired by the prime minister to hold the Pashu Arogya Mela .

He added that by 2022, there will be no family without a roof in Uttar Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at Durga Mata and Tulsi Manas temple in Varanasi on 22 September.

Launching a stamp on Ramayana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that stamps were a way to “preserve history”. He added that stamps have a special place in the history.

He said the life of Rama will inspire everyone.

Among many initiatives launched, the Prime Minister’s twitter handle said, Jal Ambulance and Jal Shav Vahini Sewa “are innovative initiatives that will add convenience in people’s lives”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi complimented the UP government for their focus on the development and lauded the state for the attention to eastern UP.

He added that our weavers needed “a global market”, and that it will enhance their economic prospects significantly. He said that weavers needed to get access to international market, that will help them prosper economically.

He also took a dig at the Samajwadi Party that was in power in the state earlier and said that they “did not want development” in the state. Modi added that the solution to every problem “lay in development”.

The Mahamana Express, a direct train service, which will connect Varanasi to Surat and Vadodara.

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken numerous steps for the wellbeing of famers, youngsters and rural areas, said UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, at the launch of 17 infrastructural projects along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On Modi’s Varanasi schedule is the launch of a week-long animal fair or Pashu Arogya Mela in Shahanshapur on the outskirts of Varanasi on Saturday. At the launch, Modi will observe a live demonstration of surgery performed on cattle by experts from Bareilly’s Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), reported the Hindustan Times.

Modi will also launch India’s third ‘Mahamana Express’, a direct train service, which will connect Varanasi to Surat and Vadodara.

Modi will inaugurate nearly 17 infrastructure projects, including the Ramnagar-Samne Ghat bridge and the Balua Ghat bridge, and lay the foundation of nearly six projects including Ramna Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), said Sanjay Bhardwaj, the BJP's eastern Uttar Pradesh media in- charge to PTI.

Modi said that the Deendayal Hastkala Sankul, a trade facilitation centre for handicrafts, will be dedicated to the nation. Modi tweeted the other projects he will launch on 22 September.

The Prime Minister will unveil a plaque to mark the beginning of the construction of the headquarters building of the Utkarsh Bank, the Prime Minister’s Office said.

On 22 September evening, Modi will visit the historic Tulsi Manas temple in Varanasi. He will also release a postal stamp on Ramayana, and will later visit the Durga Mata temple in the city.
