Ahmedabad, Nov. 30 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Friday filed his nomination papers for the upcoming state assembly polls.
Modi, who was accompanied by a host of other BJP leaders from the state, filed his nomination papers in Ahmedabad Collector's Office here.
Modi, who is looking at a third consecutive term at the helm in Gujarat, will lock horns with Congress nominee Shweta Bhatt in the state's Maninagar constituency.
Maninagar is a Modi stronghold and he has held this seat since 2002. In 2007, he defeated the Congress candidate by around 75,000 votes.
Shweta Bhatt, who is the wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt, filed her nomination papers earlier in the day.
Gujarat goes to polls in two phases on December 13 and 17. The counting of votes will take place on December 20. (ANI)
