Aizawl, Oct 1 (PTI) Mizoram's COVID-19 tally on Thursday crossed the 2,000 mark as 31 more people, including 23 security personnel tested positive for the virus, a health department official said.
At least 1,252 samples were tested in the last 24 hours of which 31 were diagnosed with COVID-19, pushing the state's coronavirus tally to 2,017, the official said.
Of the 31 fresh cases, 16 were reported from Aizawl district, 10 from Kolasib and 5 cases were reported from Lawngtlai district, he said.
Thirteen Border Security Force (BSF) jawans, 9 Army personnel, 1 Assam Rifles staff and 5 employees of Border Road Organisation (BRO) are among the newly infected patients, he said.
Two state residents and a clerical employee of Counter-Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) in Vairengte were also diagnosed with the virus.
No local transmission case has been reported in the last 24 hours, he added.
There are at present 420 active COVID-19 cases in the state while 1,597 people have already recovered from the virus.
As many as 79,743 samples have been tested till date, according to the health department.
Mizoram has not reported any fatality due to COVID-19 so far, the official added. PTI COR RG RG
