Ministry of External Affairs releases a statement on Indian soldiers stranded in China

Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, had ensured that the sailors trapped in China would soon be brought back to India as diplomatic talks with the neighboring country were underway.

China, however, said the real reason was that because of commercial interests, the freight forwarder did not want to change plans. Counselor Ji Rong, Speaker of the Chinese Embassy in India, also claimed that the Chinese authorities "never denied any vessel departure"
