Minister asked to leave Umaria as campaign for bypoll ends

Umaria, Apr 7 (PTI) The administration today asked the Madhya Pradesh Food Minister Om Prakash Dhurve to leave after he was found to be staying here even after the campaign for Bandhavgarh by-poll in the district ended.

“We asked the minister to go out of the district as he was not supposed to stay in the area after 5 PM,” Umaria Collector and District Returning Officer Abhishek Singh told PTI.

“The administration is enforcing the model code of conduct. I am leaving the place….I am going to Satna,” Dhurve told reporters when contacted.

The polling will be held in Bandhavgarh Assembly constituency on April 9.

The minister was taken to the local police station and later he was seen leaving it, but the police did not specify what action was initiated against him.

He had left Umaria, a police official said later.
