Migrant crisis in India: Supreme Court slams centre on the year-long delay of database

The Supreme Court slammed the centre for a dealy in the migrant database. They questioned the centre on their pace of work, and that what is taking them so long to progress things. The centre has asked for an extension of 2-3 months, to which the centre questioned why do they need more time. Last year, during the migrant exodus, the migrant workforce of the country was compelled to leave metropolitan cities and walk back to their villages, due to the lack of transport and cooperation by the government. Several had lost their lives, and several went missing. The Supreme Court has asked the centre to provide a database of all the workers and their family status in a timely manner.
