Micromax, BSNL Expected to Launch JioPhone Competition, Bharat One Today
New Delhi, October 17: Mobile phone maker Micromax and telecommunication service provider BSNL are expected to launch their joint venture in competition to JioPhone on Tuesday. As per reports, in a event in Delhi, the duo, which recently teamed up might possibly announced the new Bharat One feature phone.
While features of the phone has been kept under wraps, reports claimed that Bharat One might have features similar to the JioPhone. Digit reported that the phone should offer 4G connectivity and support VoLTE.
Micromax’s partnership with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which is a state-owned telecommunication company, could indicate attractive offers and plans for people opting for the Bharat One device.
Recently, Airtel teamed up with Karbonn and announced their product to compete with JioPhone. In this new initiative, they offered Karbonn’s A40 smartphone at Rs 1,399. Noteworthy that this phone is otherwise priced Rs. 2,899.
Initially introduced under Jio’s disruptive model, JioPhone was advertised as free phone, where people had to pay Rs. 1,500, which would be refunded in three years. However, it came with additional terms and conditions that a user must recharge with at least Rs. 1,500 per annum or Rs. 4,500 over a period of three years to be eligible for the refund.
