The New York Mets have acquired infielder Robinson Cano and hard-throwing young closer Edwin Diaz from the Seattle Mariners, with the trade confirmed on Monday.
The blockbuster deal, all but completed last week, had reportedly stalled briefly entering the weekend over how much money the Mariners would send the Mets' way.
But it has now been completed after Cano completed a physical examination, with Seattle receiving Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, Gerson Bautista and minor-leaguers Jarred Kelenic and Justin Dunn.
There is also money involved in the deal as the Mariners will cover the remaining contracts of Swarzac and Bruce. The Mets will reportedly owe Cano $63million over five years, while Seattle will send $20million to New York.
