As the Delhi Police special Cell widens its probe in the Delhi Riots case; a political faceoff has erupted. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party leader Mehbooba Mufti has tweeted on the arrest of former JNU student Umar Khalid for allegedly causing the riots in north-east Delhi.
In her tweet, she condemned his arrest and said, 'Not crime but religion determines if one is to be jailed in India. No coincidence that Umar & Safoora are imprisoned but a Kapil & Komal are out & about.'
Umar Khalid has been booked under Section 13, 16, 17, 18 of Unlawful Activities (Preventions) Act (UAPA) for allegedly instigating the north-east Delhi riots in February 2020.
