Meet the dreaded lady dons of Delhi
The fearlessness and dominance of Basiran in committing crimes at regular intervals put her among five top women dons of the national Capital.
Delhi Police put her into the same bracket as godmothers such as Sonu Panjaban, Shakeela, Ram Preet Kaur alias Rani and Saira Begam.
A native of Haryana's Rohtak district her real name is Geeta Arora. She is known as prostitution racket queen of Delhi and holding 90 per cent of flesh trade business. She was arrested by Delhi police on December 24, 2017 for dragging a 13-year-old minor girl into prostitution.
She married two gangsters. Her first husband Vijay Singh was killed in a police encounter in 2014. Her second husband Hemant Singh was also gunned down in police encounter two years later in Gurugram.
Panjaban is facing five cases of murder and several cases of immoral human trafficking, running flesh trade racket under POCSO act. Panjaban is known for the introduction of high profile call girls at their doorsteps of potential customers in Delhi. She reportedly earned Rs 60,000 to 70,000 from one.
54-year-old Shakeela started her livelihood in Delhi as a vegetable seller in Laxmi Nagar area and soon become queen of running the biggest gambling den. She was involved in 21 criminal cases including murder, attempt to murder, gambling, sale of illicit liquor and MCOCA. She is known to be very close to north-east Delhi's dreaded gangster Chennu Pahalwan. Shakeela's brother Mannu alias Anees Khan is a notorious gangster involved in murder, extortion kidnapping. He carries a bounty of Rs 50,000.
A 44-year-old gangster, who entered the crime world some three decades ago with her husband. She was the owner of one of the prominent brothels (brothel number 57) at GB road until August 2016 when police arrested her for trafficking girls from Nepal and eastern states of the country. When she was arrested, police found about six more brothels in GB road, a farmhouse in south-east Delhi and three flats in Bengaluru. All the properties are being used in flesh trade.
RAM PREET KAUR ALIAS RANI
The youngest woman gangster of all is just 32 years old. Police suspects over 100 criminal cases against her name with majority of chain and mobile snatching cases. She has been arrested 15 times by the Delhi police and released on bail.
Rani used to dress up like men. Delhi police, during the investigation of a series of chain snatching incidents in Kirti Nagar area in December 2017, found two men riding Pulsar motorbike and committing crimes in various CCTV cameras. When the police traced them, one of the accused appeared to be Rani who snatched mobile and chains as pillion rider.
