MCD polls: From crorepati candidates to ones with criminal records. Here's why Delhi is in for shock

According to a data, 30 per cent of candidates fielded by different parties for the upcoming MCD elections in Delhi are crorepatis.

NGO Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) revealed that 30 per cent of the candidates fielded by various parties are crorepatis. Also, of these 697 crorepatis, Congress has the biggest share at 163 (64 per cent), followed by BJP's 141 (54 per cent) and AAP's 104 (42 per cent).

Interestingly, at least seven per cent of the total candidates have 'criminal' cases against them and five per cent of the 'serious' kind.

LJSP candidate Rajesh, contesting from SDMC, has declared a case of murder against him. Some 15 candidates have declared cases of attempt to murder.

Seven candidates have cases of kidnapping and 23 candidates have cases of crime against women.
