New Delhi, April 23: The exit poll results of the Delhi MCD Elections 2017 are going to be announced. The polling was completed on Sunday and the counting will be held on April 26. Last time, it was the BJP that had won. They are still the favourites to win the epic electoral battle. However, Aam Aadmi Party is still confident that the people of Delhi will not ditch them. The Aam Aadmi Party that had been dismissive about exit polls would keep an eye out for the results as such polls proved true recently to the horror of the Kejriwal-led outfit. In the recent Five-state Assembly polls, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal had anticipated stellar performance in Goa and Punjab. However, the exit poll results said other. AAP dismissed the results. However, the finals results showed they were right on the money. The Chanakya opinion polls were the most accurate.
The AAP’s hope rests on these elections. The party had not performed up to the expectations in Punjab. After the Punjab loss, the party concentrated its energies on Delhi’s local polls, where the party must have a rock solid vote base. A defeat here would mean that massive support it got in 2015 Assembly elections is rapidly eroding and something concrete must be done. The party had lost the Rajouri Garden by-polls earlier this month.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the other hand wants to carry the momentum of the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand wins in the elections. They would want a big win in Delhi and carry it to the upcoming Gujarat polls which are due later this year.
