Former Kenyan Premier League champions Mathare United are on the verge of securing the services of former Sofapaka forward Kevin Kimani, Goal understands.
The widely traveled creative midfielder was released by Batoto ba Mungu last month after he was deemed surplus. Kimani has been training with the slum boys and Goal.com understands that the experienced midfielder is on the verge of sealing a one-year deal.
"The coach is interested in having several experienced heads to guide the youngsters in the team and that is the reason why Kimani might be re-signed. It is not clear when but he will be given a one-year contract if all goes well before the end of the week.
"Remember when Edward Seda left, some creativity was lost, especially in the final third, and I think the coach wants to solve it with an experienced player,” a source privy to the talks told Goal.
The 'Slum Boys' will be aiming at a top-five finish by the end of the season.
