Maruti Suzuki will launch the all-new Dzire in India on May 16, 2017. The updated Dzire loses out on the Swift moniker as well as sheds some weight. It is also based on an all-new platform, the same one as the Baleno - Heartect. Deliveries of the new Dzire will start almost immediately after the launch. There will be six colours to choose from - Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown, Gallant Red, Arctic White, Silky Silver and Magma Grey. Along with the regular Dzire, the Tour will be sold to the taxi fleet.

The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire looks much more modern than the car it replaces. This includes an elongated bonnet, automatic LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, rear LED lights, dual-tone alloy wheels and a bigger-looking boot.
Inside the cabin, the console seems driver centric with the instrument cluster slightly tilted towards the driver. The twin-pod cluster is new and has a white surround to it. New list of features include switchgear from the Ignis, flat-bottomed partially wood-covered steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and Android Auto. The upholstery too has been revised while there is 50mm more kneeroom at the rear. Speaking of which, Maruti has also added a central rear AC vent in the new Dzire.
Safety has been taken care of with dual airbags as well as ABS along with ISOFIX seat mounts as standard. This is the first time that the Dzire gets all these safety features as standard, including on the automatic trims. It is also pedestrian as well as offset crash test compliant.
Boot space has increased by 60 litres. Wheelbase has gone up by 20mm (like the all-new Swift) while overall the car is lighter than its predecessor by 105kg. The all-new Swift, in the meanwhile, is around 100kg lighter than the previous-gen car. Ground clearance has gone down by 7mm and now stands at 163mm, and Maruti has used Bridgestone Ecopia tyres instead of the regular JKs.
Maruti has decided to continue with the 1.2-litre K-series petrol as well as 1.3-litre diesel engines. The 84.3PS/115Nm and 75PS/190Nm configurations stay too. What the Dzire gains over the older car is more fuel efficiency as well as automated manual transmission option in both petrol as well as diesel trims. To widen the appeal of the automatic transmission, Maruti is offering it on all but the base LXi and LDi trims.
While the older Dzire now replaces the first-gen car as its fleet equivalent, the new-gen car showcased here will cater to the premium compact segment. Expect it to be priced around Rs 20,000 more than the outgoing car. We will have the review as well as price details of the all-new Dzire by May 16, 2017. Keep an eye on this space.
