New Delhi, Nov. 11 -- While Shah Rukh Khan and the Jab Tak Hai Jaan team made Delhiites wait for three hours on Sunday, elsewhere, tennis star Maria Sharapova was already winning hearts. And, being won over by the Capital.
On her maiden visit to India, the world number two was so awed by the "tremendous energy of the people in Delhi" that she said she wanted to play live here.
"I'd heard that I have a lot of fans in India but seeing it for myself was amazing! There's so much energy and warmth here. I really, really want to play live in India someday," said the 25-year-old US-based Russian, who was here as brand ambassador of a UK-based real estate firm.
In the country just for a day, Sharapova shelved her Taj Mahal plans for the next visit, but said she did not want to miss out on a desi shopping spree.
"I'm really looking forward to visit the local markets to buy some souvenirs for my friends, and may be some ethnic Indian wear for myself," said the player, who won the French Open this year, followed by a silver at the Olympics.
And Indian food? "Oh yeah! I already had a dosa for breakfast, it was awesome!"
