Maratha quota politics: Uddhav Thackeray asked PM Modi to take steps to lift 50% ceiling

A delegation led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lift the reservation threshold of 50% to ensure that Marathas and other backward communities continue to benefit. He was accompanied by Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister, and Ashok Chavan, the Minister of Public Works. Mr. Chavan is the chairman of the State Cabinet's Maratha Reservation Subcommittee. The group also brought up the matter of promotion reservations, which had been put on hold due to various court rulings. Many people asked PM Modi to declare a nationwide uniform policy because many other states were also dealing with similar issue.
