Congress Puts Pressure on BJP to Name Manohar Parrikar’s Replacement, Says Goa Admin ‘on Verge of Collapse’
New Delhi, Feb 19: A senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sunil Desai on Monday lodged a complaint with Ponda police saying some people were spreading false reports, quoting him, about the condition of Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar who is hospitalised in Mumbai.
“Some people are circulating false news about the chief minister’s health and misguiding people in my name,” Desai reportedly said in his complaint. Desai was quoted in some reports on Parrikar’s health circulated on WhatsApp.
Goa Assembly Speaker Pramod Sawant also appealed people not to believe rumours about the chief minister’s health. “He is recovering at the hospital in Mumbai. We wish him speedy recovery. I appeal people not to believe the rumours that are being spread,” news agency PTI quoted Sawant as saying.
Earlier on Sunday, Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital also denied reports that the former Defence Minister is suffering from Cancer.
“It is been brought to our notice that various malicious/misleading reports/rumors are floating around in the Electronic/Print media with regards to the health of Parrikar. We categorically deny all such reports,” a hospital statement read.
The Chief Minister on February 14 complained of stomach ache and visited the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a health check-up. He was later taken to the Mumbai hospital for further examination.
