Manipur Witnesses Floods For Fifth Time in Five Months; Heavy Rainfall Reported
Imphal, September 21: Manipur is witnessing floods for the fifth time within the last five months. Incessant rainfall has been reported over the past 48 hours leading to floods in various parts of Imphal, including Thoubal and Kakching districts.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has assured that the government machinery is fully prepared to deal with any eventuality arising from the torrential rains. Officials have been in touch with local volunteers and emergency helplines have been set up, the Chief Minister said, DD News reported.

Most of the major rivers in the state were flowing at the danger level. The flood control department officials were stationed in vulnerable areas of the state. The weather department has forecast more rain in the next 48 hours. Officials added there was a possibility that weak river banks may breach as the water level was rising.
