Manipur reports 10 new COVID cases, tally rises to 29,486

Imphal, Apr 10 (PTI) Ten people, including four women, tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, taking the tally to 29,486, an official said on Saturday.

Of the new cases, five were reported from Imphal West district and two from Imphal East district. The remaining cases were registered in Chandel, Kamjong and Kangpokpi districts.

One coronavirus patient was discharged in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recovered people to 29,010, registering a recovery rate of 98.38 per cent, the official said.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 remained unchanged at 375, while the state has 101 active cases.

Meanwhile, altogether 92,472 people have received the vaccine for coronavirus till Saturday, the official said.

The state will launch the four-day mass vaccination campaign at all government and private health centres from Sunday, Chief Minister N Biren Singh had said earlier.

Only around 3,200 of 14 lakh people, who are above 45 years of age but not health care or front line workers, got the COVID-19 vaccine till April 8 in the state due to some 'hesitation', he had said. PTI CORR SBN NN NN
