The National Security Act has been filed against Manipur-based journalist Kishorechandra Wangkhem and political activist Erendro Leichombam, who were detained last week for their social media messages (NSA). Wangkhem and Leichombam were arrested on May 15 after the BJP's state vice-president Usham Deban and state general secretary P Premananda Meetei filed a complaint alleging that they made derogatory remarks about state BJP president Saikhom Tikendra Singh, who died of Covid-19-related complications. “Cow dung and cow urine are ineffective against Covid-19,” the detainees said in Manipuri.
