On June 15, Lust Stories, an anthology of four short films, directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar, premiered on Netflix.

The film, which explored the idea of lust and sex from a woman's perspective, opened to rave reviews, especially Karan Johar's segment, which features a woman orgasming as the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham title track reaches a crescendo in the background.

It's a genuinely hilarious moment and Johar was appreciated for his self-deprecating snark.

But the use of the track in a sexual context has apparently pissed off the Pedder Road-based Mangeshkar family. Why are they pissed? Because Lata Mangeshkar sang the title track.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, a family member said, "We wonder why he needed to use a Bhajan-like song sung in the most revered voice of Asia to show his heroine in an orgasmic state. He could have used any other song."

The family has been so unnerved by this situation that they've withheld the news from the legendary singer herself.

The family member further stated, "Why did Karan Johar use Lata Didi's immortal song in such an embarrassing situation? I still remember how ecstatic Karan was when Didi had recorded the song for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He said it was a dream come true. Why turn the dream song into a nightmare now?"

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Cum? Not for the Mangeshkars.
