Locals from Kasaragod district in Kerala staged a protest at Talapady on Monday against the restrictions placed on interstate movement by the Karnataka government. In retaliation, the protesters also threatened against blocking the Mangaluru - Kerala national highway if the restrictions continue.
RT-PCR negative certificates have recently been made mandatory by the Dakshina Kannada district administration for individuals entering Karnataka from Kerala. Arshad Vorkady, standing committee chairman of the Kasaragod district panchayat, said that restricting the movement of people and vehicles on interstate borders is a direct violation of the unlock notification by the central government.
