Mangalore: Temple President Donates Land For Mosque Expansion, Calls For Unity in Nation

The masjid authorities thanked him for the gesture and appreciated this move.

Mangalore, Dec 17: The president of a Hindu temple donated a part of his land for the expansion of a near-by mosque in the Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka. He further asserted that there is nothing bigger than unity and harmony between the Hindu and the Muslim community in the nation.

Mohan Rai, president of Eliya Sri Vishnumurthy Temple donated 12 cents of his land to a masjid located next to his property. Rai is from of Olemundovu village under Keyyur gram panchayat of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka. The masjid authorities thanked him for the gesture and appreciated this move.

“The masjid is located close to my property and the committee needed additional land. Though we are of different faiths, we have only one god. Hence, we have to respect all religions. We should not discriminate in the name of religions. God has given me everything and I am donating a part of it,” said Rai, Times of India reported.

According to reports, the committee of Olemundovu Masjid requested Mohan for the land for its expansion plans. Mohan, who used to participate in programmes at masjid, on December 15 agreed to hand over 12 cents land to the committee.
