Man held in Lucknow under ‘love jihad’ law

Lucknow (UP), May 31 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a man under ‘love jihad’ law in Lucknow for marrying a woman and converting her to Islam. The victim lodged a complaint stating that a man named Abid befriended her impersonating as Aditya Singh and converted her to Islam and married her by threatening her. Giving out more information on the incident, Ghazipur ACP, Sunil Kumar Sharma said, “A woman lodged a complaint stating that a man named Abid befriended her impersonating as Aditya Singh. Later, he got the woman converted to Islam and married her by threatening to leak their intimate videos online. Later, she came to know that Abid was already married and had 7 children. He again married a Hindu woman by Hindu rituals in February this year. An FIR has been lodged against him under IPC and Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act.”
