Mamata Banerjee's alleged attack: Supreme Court petition requests a CBI investigation

The Supreme Court will hear a petition today seeking directions to the CBI to investigate the incident in Nandigram that injured West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 10th march, 2021. A three-judge bench headed by the Chief Justice of India will hear a petition seeking an inquiry into the alleged assault on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram while she was attending a rally to file her nomination papers. The petition also asks for the issuance of guidelines and directives for the investigation of future similar incidents involving the electoral machinery, in order to safeguard the country's basic tenet of free, equal, and transparent elections.
