04 Feb 2021: Mahindra recalls 1,577 units of Thar SUV over faulty camshaft
Mahindra has announced that it will recall 1,577 units of the new-generation Thar SUV's diesel variant, manufactured between September 7 and December 25, 2020.
The company claims that a machine setting error on specific dates, at the supplier's plant, might have affected camshafts in certain engines.
Customers will be individually contacted by Mahindra and the affected part will be replaced free of cost.

The new-generation Mahindra Thar is offered in an off-road biased AX (O) variant and a city-oriented LX trim.
The SUV sports a blacked-out grille with vertical slats, rounded headlamps, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. It is flanked by squared windows, blacked-out ORVMs, huge wheel arches, and alloy wheels.
It has a ground clearance of 226mm and a wheelbase of 2,450mm.
Fact: Power and performance
The Mahindra Thar comes with two BS6-compliant engine options: a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol mill that generates 150hp/320Nm and a 2.2-liter diesel motor that makes 130hp/300Nm. Transmission duties on the SUV are handled by a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox.
Interiors: A peek inside the cabin
The new Mahindra Thar has a spacious cabin with fabric upholstery, powered front windows, auto climate control, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and a multifunctional power steering wheel.
It houses a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment console that offers support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Passengers' safety is ensured by twin airbags, traction control, a vehicle stability control system, electronic stability control, and crash sensors.

In India, the price of the new-generation Mahindra Thar SUV begins at Rs. 12.10 lakh for the AX (O) manual trim and goes up to Rs. 14.15 lakh for the LX Diesel AT variant (all prices, ex-showroom, New Delhi).
