Maharashtra: US-based Indian Engineer Ties The Knot With Gay Lover in Yavatmal

According to Hrishi's social media profile, his parents were against his homosexual affiliation, but he soon succeeded in convincing them.

Mumbai, Jan 13: A US-based Indian engineer married his gay lover in a traditional ceremony at Maharashtra’s Yavatmal on December 30. The bold step comes a few days after the Supreme Court has agreed to review the criminalisation of homosexuality.

With the blessings of their families and friends, Yavatmal native Hrishi Mohankumar Sathawane (40) married Vinh, from Vietnam at a hotel a few distance away from the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP).

Hrishi, presently lives in California, and pursued B-Tech from IIT-Bombay. He has a U.S. green card.

According to Hrishi’s social media profile, his parents were against his homosexual affiliation, but he soon succeeded in convincing them.

The couple got engaged in mid-2017 followed by an American wedding in October, photos shared on Hrishi’s social media account suggest. The owners of the hotel, where the ceremony happened have reportedly claimed that it was a simple get-together. Speaking on the matter to The Times of India, Additional SP Amarsingh Jadhav initially said he did not want to comment, however later on he said that an investigation has been ordered.
