Maharashtra: Only BJP can give stable govt, says Fadnavis

THE POLITICAL situation in the state is such that BJP alone can give Maharashtra a stable government, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told party MLAs at a meeting in Mumbai on Thursday.

“Three parties cannot form the government. Even if they do, it won’t continue for long. It is unlikely to last beyond six months. There cannot be an alternative to a BJP government... The BJP alone can give a stable government,” Fadnavis said, adding that considering the ground reality, the party leadership will take call on government formation at an appropriate time.

“The BJP has got a huge mandate in the elections. Any attempt to corner the BJP will not be good for the state’s welfare. But at the same time, we must remember that BJP works for the people and not power,” said the former CM.

While urging party members to reach out to the people, especially farmers affected by unseasonal rainfall, Fadnavis said, “Our work should continue. We have to our support the farmers.”

State leaders told the MLAs not to stay on in Mumbai. “There is no trust deficit in BJP. We are confident of our MLAs, unlike others (referring to Congress and Shiv Sena) who have to kept their MLAs under watch in hotels, fearing they would leave the party,” said state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil.
