A 30-year-old woman from Maharashtra's Beed district, who was gang-raped in 2015, alleged that a resolution had been passed by her village panchayat to ban her and that she was being pressurised by the residents to leave the town. A local government official said that not only her village but two neighbouring villages have also passed resolutions to bar her.
The police said the woman had filed a complaint with the villagers accusing them of using abusive language against her and they were investigating it.
Five years ago, when she went to a farm in the village to pluck cotton, the woman was sexually assaulted. The court sentenced four people to life imprisonment for raping her earlier this year, the police said.
